This class will teach you how to master traditional curved piecing using the classic, hourglass-like apple core one-patch shape. We will cut out your fabric using a die-cut system. Pinning strategies for matching concave and convex curves, and precision sewing techniques will keep your blocks flat without puckering.

Using Liza Taylor's Wonderful World of Paper Pieced Quilt Blocks as our text, you will learn all the basics about Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP). This book features 30 nature-inspired FPP patterns for flowers and "creatures of flight," suitable for beginners and experienced quilters, with blocks in 5" and 7" sizes and instructions for enlarging them. The book includes templates, tutorials, and projects like sampler quilts, table runners, and wall hangings, blending modern and vintage styles.

Want to learn to crochet? We will be teaching a beginner class starting in January 2027 and will be making Granny Squares. As our "text", we will be using The Granny Square Along Crochet Book by Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet, which is a true labor of love. When Lori’s grandmother taught her to crochet, she first showed her how to make granny squares, and since then, you could say she has been hooked! The book is included in your sign-up fee.
